Pakistani authorities sent as many as five fishermen to jail after a local court found them guilty of entering into Pakistan’s territorial waters.

These fishermen were arrested on January 15 and handed over to the police on January 16. They were found fishing illegally in Pakistan territorial waters about 90 nautical miles from the coast. Pakistani authorities arrested them and seized their boat, the Dawn quoted Pakistan Police sources as saying.

The names of those arrested are Karwa, son of Dewa; Jewa, son of Cheevi; Bhola, son of Jamid; Kanak, son of Jiwa; and Naro, son of Ram Bhai. The five were on-board a vessel, Jalpari, police said.

Earlier, on Saturday, six other Indian fishermen were nabbed on the same charges. Their boat was seized. After obtaining their remand from court, they were sent to prison on Monday. (ANI)
