‘Too fat’ ex Wonderbra model Katie Green lands Ultimo job

Wonderbra model Katie Green, who quit her job after being told she was ‘too fat’, has been signed by Ultimo.

The 21-year-old, who’s a size 12, was left devastated when a top-modelling agency said she was needed to lose two stone.

However, a few days later, her confidence received a big boost, when Ultimo signed her up.

“I really didn’t know where my career was going to go after the depression of being told I was too fat,” News of the World quoted her, as saying.

“But when you published my story, Ultimo contacted my agent to sign me up with a prestigious new contract.

“My life has been completely turned around in less than a week—and it’s all thanks to News of the World,” she added.

While Green, of Chichester, West Sussex, was modelling for Wonderbra range, the lingerie firm suggested her to sign up with Premier Model Management, which asked her to diet to a size 10.

“It knocked my confidence for six and really embarrassed me. Had I lost the two stone, I would have looked like a bag of bones. I won’t sacrifice my health,” she said.

Green is now modelling Ultimo’s D-G range.

Ultimo boss Michelle Mone said: “Katie’s figure is beautiful and she looks so sexy in our latest designs.” (ANI)

Anna Faris was a late bloomer

Actress Anna Faris, who is best known for her lead role as Cindy Campbell in the ‘Scary Movie’ series, has revealed that she developed really late, insisting that she was a ‘late bloomer’.

The American star, who stunned all with her super-toned body in her latest movie ‘The House Bunny’, confessed that it was not until she was 23 that she budded as a woman.

"I was such a late bloomer growing up,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“I was so short and I had no chest or hips until I was 23, so that part of being Shelley was always really awkward for me. It was fun to do but very unnatural," she added.

The actress further said: "I did a lot of training and I was working out a lot.

“When you see those skimpy outfits you have to wear every day it''s very motivating."

The 31-year-old has often stood in comparison to the screen legend Goldie Hawn and considers herself privileged for such an honorary evaluation.

She said: "It''s so flattering and completely intimidating.

“I grew up watching her movies and I just love her so much, it''s a huge honour, " she added. (ANI)

Debra Winger says rumours of her ‘difficult’ reputation are ‘exaggerated’

Actress Debra Winger has said that the stories of her having a ‘difficult’ reputation are greatly exaggerated.

The ‘Rachel Getting Married’ star told ‘CBS News Sunday Morning’ that although she has been involved in punch-ups, she doesn’t recall harming anyone as such.

"I didn''t hurt anyone,” the New York Post quoted her as saying.

“I didn''t, you know, kill anyone, that I know of," she added.

However, on recalling an incident with ‘Terms of Endearment’ co-star Shirley MacLaine, the 53-year-old said: "There was no blood drawn.

“There might have been a scuffle. I don''t remember.

“I mean, we were wild, you know. She''s not a wilting violet. She''s tough, too." (ANI)

Meera Syal’s secret exercise regime - boxing!

British comedian Meera Syal has revealed that she has taken up boxing to lose the baby weight she has put on.

Syal, who has never been a fitness freak, was asked on the new BBC series about her secret weight-loss weapon after her baby’s birth at the age of 45.

“I went to a personal trainer,” the Mirror quoted her as saying.

“I am not obsessive. I eat healthily and try to have most of my food before 6pm.

“I am not one of those people who say I have got to be a size 10, two months after the birth. I get very annoyed when I see that in magazines and you are sat at home with leaky breasts and cellulite. You don’t want to see Angelina Jolie in size 10 jeans, you really don’t.

“My trainer is an ex-boxer and he suggested it one day and I absolutely love it. It’s frightening how much aggression you have and I love hitting things.

“I could never be in a fight and I hate the thought of hitting someone or being hit. But it is a beautiful sport. I have been learning the different punches.

“You feel very peaceful afterwards because you’ve used a lot of aggression,” she added.

When asked about her hubby Sanjeev Bhaskar’s reaction to her new fitness regime, she revealed that he had accepted it with good grace.

“He holds his hands up so I can punch them and acts tough,” she said laughingly.

“But I’m sure he goes round the corner after and goes ‘ouch’. He won’t show me out of pride,” she added. (ANI)

Animal activists launch attack on Penelope Cruz over bullfighter film

Actress Penelope Cruz has angered animal rights activists after signing ‘Manolete’– the Spanish film about a legendary matador who was gored to death in a bullring at the peak of his fame.

Anti-bullfighting campaigners are not happy at her participation in a film that celebrates the cruel sport.

In the movie, Cruz plays the voluptuous actress Lupe Sino, with whom ‘Manolete’, played by Oscar winner Adrien Brody, had a turbulent affair in the 1940s.

The makers of ‘Manolete’, a Spanish-British production which will be shown in British cinemas early next year, insist that neither of its stars were showing approval of bullfighting by taking part in the film and were simply attracted to the roles by a strong story.

However, animal rights campaigners have been launching attacks on the pair, especially Cruz who they had thought was on their side.

The film''s Spanish producer Andres Vicente Gomez, of Lolafilms, insists that the film would not glamourise bullfighting.

"This is a film about a love story. There is no blood shown. There is one scene involving a bullfight but it does not show the animal suffering. In no way did bulls suffer for this film," The Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

He said the involvement of Cruz and Brody in the film did not mean they supported bullfighting and pointed out that the actress has said in the past that she opposed it.

"Penelope took the role because she thinks it will be a good film," Gomez said.

Jordi Casamitjana, of CAS International, Europe''s largest anti-bullfighting organisation, said: "The film makes the matador the good guy and Franco and the Fascists the bad guys, so inevitably it will make a hero out of a man who tortures animals for a living. Even if we do not see any bulls suffering, it will make bullfighting seem a good thing." (ANI)
