Cyclone Scenario

The very severe cyclonic storm "SIDR" crossed West Bangladesh coast near longitude 89.80 E around 2230 hrs. IST of yesterday night , the 15th November

2007. The system moved northeastwards and rapidly weakened into a depression.

It lay centred at 0830 hrs. IST of today, the 16th November' 07 , over Bangladesh and adjoining Tripura, Assam & Meghalaya with its centre about 50 km north of Agaratala. It is likely to move in north-northeasterly direction and weaken further . Under its influence, rain/thundershowers are likely at many places with heavy to very heavy falls over northeastern states during next 24 hours only.

EAST INDIA

[EAST UP, BIHAR, JHARKHAND, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM, ORISSA]

Isolated rain/thundershowers are likely over West Bengal & Sikkim during

next 24 hours and mainly dry weather is likely thereafter. Mainly dry weather is

likely over the rest region.

NORTHEAST INDIA

[Arunachal Pradesh, NMM &T, Assam, Meghalaya]

Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places over the region during next 24

hours and isolated thereafter.

SOUTH INDIA

[TN, AP, KERALA, KARNATAKA, ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS, LAKSHADWEEP]

Isolated rain/thundershowers are likely over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala,

Lakshadweep and Nicobar Islands. Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest

region.
