CRPF personnel killed in J-K gun-battle

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was killed on Friday in the continuing gun-battle between the security forces and the militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore region.

An encounter between the CRPF and militants in Kashmir continued throughout the morning on Friday after militants opened gunfire at a soldier from a hotel.

The militant outfit LeT (Lashkar-e-Toiba) has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Tension gripped the apple town of Sopore, 50 kilometers north of Srinagar, after militants wearing combat dress attacked a CRPF patrol party on Thursday.

Forces of the paramilitary and the State police surrounded the area and an exchange of fire ensued since 2.45 pm (IST). One of the security personnel was injured. (ANI)
