The Pogues’ ‘Fairytale in New York’ is 'UK's Most Played Christmas song'
The ‘1987’ single featuring late singer Kirsty MACColl topped the chart pushing down Mariah Carey's ‘All I Want for Christmas’ to second position.
The chart, calculated through radio, television and public performance plays, features Wham's ‘Last Christmas’ in third place, reports BBC.
At number four and five were two versions of Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid 20 and Band Aid respectively.
PPL, the company which licenses recorded music on behalf of record companies, produced the chart from 2002-2006.
