Why men find women in uniforms irresistible

Men just love to see a gorgeous girl in uniform. And now, a new research has found out why exactly it is so.

According to the Revolver Entertainment poll – to mark the DVD release of Female Agents –military look of females is the favourite among guys.

In the survey, 17percent of men said the power-dressing look was their favourite, especially suiting brainy babes, reports the Daily Star.

A fifth of those surveyed said a military uniform was best, putting fantasy version of a pilot’s uniform second in the list.

Britain’s favourite is the nurse’s uniform.

Women in firefighting gear did not top the survey of men, however blokes still consider them sexy.

Also, according to men, women with a hard hat and tool pouch, who give a sexy new meaning to the term “builder’s bum”, are worth a wolf whistle or two.

Only one in 50 men said a policewoman was their favourite fantasy. (ANI)

Not sure if your partner is true to you? Well, then here are a few signs that may help sniff out whether he/she is lying or not.

Here are seven ways to identify a liar, reports FoxNews.

1. Consider the person’s recall: Liars never forget what they have to say but they may stumble when telling a tale by making contradicting statements. They’re also eager to change the subject.

2. Observe the person’s overall body language: Liars can look ill at ease, fiddling with their hair, stroking their throat, or rubbing their eyes. With their body often turned away from you, you may notice hand or leg fidgeting. Liars also have trouble swallowing and may shake their heads after a point has been made. When the subject finally gets changed, they appear happier and more comfortable, maybe laughing nervously.

3. Take notice of any defensiveness: Liars will often take offence to any indication that they’re under suspicion. They’re likely to throw any accusations you throw at them back at you. They will also talk too much, feeling the need to over-explain themselves.

4. Home in on facial expressions: Liars fail to control their micro-expressions. While fibbing, you may notice nervous twitching. Their hand may be covering or touching their face. People also tend to touch the mouth when feeling guilty or anxious. They’re particularly good with fake smiles.

5. Don’t overlook the Pinocchio reaction: When a human tells a lie, extra blood gets pumped through the body and the nose swells by a fraction of millimeter. Liars may subsequently touch the tip of their nose unconsciously.

6. Concentrate on the eyes: A liar has a troubled brow and downcast or darting eyes. They have trouble directly engaging your gaze. They also give you eye-accessing clues. If the person is telling you the truth, he’ll look up and to the left since that’s the side of the brain we use for recalling information. If she’s lying, she’ll look up and to the right, which is the creative side of the brain, because she’s mentally constructing something that hasn’t happened.

7. Note the person’s voice: The higher the stakes are, the more the liar has a fear of getting caught. With this, the liar has a harder time controlling his body language or her voice. The pitch or rate of the speech may change, with the individual giving a lot of “umms” and “ahhs.” Often, a liar will appear stilted and monotone. Answers may seem rehearsed. (ANI)

Pak says India’s Siachen trekking expedition will undermine peace process

Pakistan has opposed India’s trekking expedition at Siachen, saying it could undermine the ongoing peace process.

“India should desist from acts that cast shadow on the peace process,” the Dawn quoted the country’s Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Sadiq as saying at a weekly briefing.

The trekkers currently undergoing acclimatisation at the Siachen base camp will undertake a long trek from Oct 12 to 19 from the base camp to the Kumar post.

“Pakistan has taken up the matter with India expressing concern over the expedition,” he said while reiterating his protest against the trekking expedition.

Similar protests by Pakistan had been ignored by India last year when it opened up the 72-km-long glacier for civilian tourism.

Regarding the issue of reduction of water flow in Chenab River, Sadiq said that Pakistan’s Indus Water Commissioner would inspect the Baglihar Dam from Oct 18.

The spokesman said Pakistan could intensify its efforts for getting the controversy resolved. “We are seriously concerned over significant reduction in flow of water in Chenab River. It has caused extensive damage to our agriculture. The Indian action is a clear violation of Indus Waters Treaty.” (ANI)

Zardari claims to be the harbinger of non-violence in Pak politics

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has reportedly said that he had set a “tradition of non-violence” in politics and that he would not take revenge from anybody.

He said this while talking to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid senators Gulshan Saeed, Rehana Yahya Baloch, Kulsoom Parveen and Tahira Latif at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, last evening, reported the Daily Times.

He said terrorism was a cancer for the country, and that the federal government and the opposition had to jointly curb it.

“Violence against women will not be tolerated and women’s quota in government jobs will be increased,” he said and added that the government would also allot state land to women. (ANI)

US drone strikes on Pak destabilizing the country and helping terrorists

The US’ air strikes on Pakistani territory, launched with the idea of busting the Taliban hideouts, were actually destablising the country and helping the terrorists, instead of the US or Pakistan, said the country’s Foreign Office.

Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said that the US must realize the fact that the US’ missile attacks were helping the terrorists.

“We want them (the US) to realise that these attacks are destabilising the situation, and they are not helping them or Pakistan. They are helping the terrorists,” the Daily Times quoted FO spokesman Muhammad Sadiq as telling reporters.

The latest alleged US attack took place on Thursday in North Waziristan, killing at least nine people, including eight Arabs. (ANI)

US-Pakistanis ask Obama to tone down “bombing Pak rhetoric”

Pakistani-Americans have reportedly urged upon Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to tone down his “bombing Pakistan” rhetoric.

During his presidential debate with Republican rival John McCain, Obama had last week said that if he won the poll, he would launch strikes on Pakistan’s territory in search for Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, and also vowed to crush the international terrorist organization.

A group of Pakistani-Americans and anti-war activists delivered a letter to Obama’s Chicago office, calling on him to “cool political rhetoric about bombing targets in Pakistan”, the Daily Times quoted a report in the Chicago Tribune, as saying.

The group also has plans to send a similar letter to McCain.

In the letter, the Pakistani-Americans said: “We are particularly concerned with your public pronouncements earlier this week in support of violating the borders of our ally, the country of Pakistan.... You must understand the sweeping dismay that your avowed support for US military incursions into Pakistan...has elicited among untold numbers of Pakistani-Americans and peace activists across the country.”

Ifti Nasim, host of a Pakistani radio show in Chicago, said that the US was “making a mistake” by attacking Pakistan and making Pakistan your enemy.

According to the report, Nasim and other protesters criticised US military incursions into the Tribal Areas to attack Taliban and Al Qaeda targets. They also decried the Bush administration’s use of unmanned military drone aircraft, which have resulted in civilian deaths. (ANI)

Glasgow suicide bomber left ‘will’ vowing to avenge Muslim killings to Osama

The court hearing the Glasgow Airport car bomb case was told yesterday that the terrorist who led the ‘mission’ had left a will addressed to Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden that he planned to kill in revenge for “injustices” against Muslims by the British and US soldiers.

The draft will written by NHS doctor Bilal Abdulla (29), the terrorist, was found on a badly-burnt laptop in the remains of a Jeep Cherokee that ploughed into the Airport’s main terminal last year

According to The Sun, the computer also contained videos of attacks on allied forces in Iraq, coffins of US soldiers and clips of speeches by al-Qaeda leader Bin Laden.

Prosecutor Jonathan Laidlaw QC said that Abdulla wrote the document because he expected to die alongside the Jeep’s driver Kafeel Ahmed (28). Abdulla, of Houston, near Glasgow, and a third man, Mohammed Asha (28) deny conspiring to murder and cause explosions.

“The terms in which it is written expose that the defendant’s position is a lie. The attacks he was planning were intended to kill,” the paper quoted Laidlaw as saying.

Ahmed died several weeks later from burns.

Abdulla, who was arrested at the airport, and Asha of Newcastle-under-Lyme — both NHS doctors — set up the suicide attack after attempts to detonate car bombs in London the previous day failed, the Woolwich Crown Court was told.

Laidlaw said that CCTV footage captured Abdulla and Ahmed catching rickshaws to escape after parking two cars full of incendiary chemicals in the West End. After only one of four bombs partially exploded the men returned to Scotland via a meeting with Asha at Stoke’s Royal Infirmary.

They then went to Abdulla’s “bomb factory” home and prepared the vehicle for the Glasgow attack, Laidlaw said.

Asha was arrested that evening and a hoard of extremist material was discovered at his home, the prosecution claimed. (ANI)

40 people killed in suicide attack on Orakzai jirga

Around 40 people were killed and 90 injured when an explosives-laden vehicle was driven into an anti-Taliban jirga by a suicide bomber, in the Orakzai Agency. The attack occurred in the Khadezai area of Upper Orakzai Agency where a jirga of the ‘Ali Khel’ tribe was in progress, the Daily Times quoted witnesses and tribal elders as saying. One of the witnesses said that at least 32 people died instantly, while more than 90 were injured in the attack. The impact of the blast was such that it left an eight-foot deep crater in the ground. A local tribesman Taj Mohammad, who was injured in the blast, said a double cabin pickup ‘hit the participants of the jirga’, held after Friday prayers. He said the jirga had earlier destroyed two Taliban hideouts and fined four Taliban Rs two lakh each. According to the paper, the tribesmen, backed by authorities, were trying to raise tribal militias in Orakzai to drive out Taliban and Al Qaeda from the area, when the bomber struck. “We were busy in raising a lashkar to evict Taliban from the region when this attack took place,” one of the jirga members reportedly said. 105-year-old virgin claims secret of longevity lies in celibacy!

A woman, who’s celebrating her 105th birthday, has said that celibacy and staying single is the key to her long life.

Chaste Clara Meadmore revealed that sex in her era meant getting married and, at the age of 12, she made up her mind that she would remain single and would lead a celibate life.

“I’ve just never been interested in or fancied having sex. I imagine there’s a lot of hassle involved,” The Sun quoted Clara, as saying.

“I’ve never had a boyfriend and never been bothered about relationships. When I was a girl you only had sex with your husband — and I never wed,” she added.

Clara, who was born in Glasgow in 1903, mowed her garden till the age of 97.

“I’ve always had lots of platonic friendships with men, but never felt the need to go further,” she said.

“I made my mind up at 12 never to marry and I’ve not gone back on that. I’ve always been too busy doing other things. People have asked if I’m a homosexual — the answer is no,” she added.

Clara, who served in Egypt with the Women’s Royal Army Corps during World War Two, revealed that she could still remember the sinking of Titanic, when she was 8 and the outbreak of world war one. (ANI)

Mullen wants India’s inclusion in new strategy to win war on terror along Pak-Afghan border

In view of the increased violence along the Pak-Afghan border and the general changing situation in Afghanistan, the US strategy on Afghanistan must broaden its scope and include India in it, said Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen.

Mullen said the Pak-Afghan boarder region had become a “safe haven for insurgents”. “Things have changed enough to warrant a review of our overall strategy there, and in fact, part of the effort is to try to ensure better coordination on both sides of that border,” The News quoted him as saying.

The strategy review will address better ways to coordinate these efforts while broadening the focus on Afghanistan to include Pakistan as well as India, Mullen said and added that both countries had long historic links to Afghanistan and an important role to play there.

According to the paper, though the idea of giving Indians a bigger role in Afghan strategy or including them in any joint force to control the Pak-Afghan border had not been discussed formally between the US and Pakistani authorities as yet, Pak security officials have always given very cautious response to it even in private conversations.

Admiral Mullen expressed the hope that progress in Iraq will continue, freeing up forces to meet additional requirements in Afghanistan. But he emphasised that the challenges in Afghanistan demand more than military might--a point US Defence Secretary Gates reiterated on Thursday to his NATO counterparts.

“It is not just about boots on the ground.""It is really three pieces. There is the security piece, the development.........and economic piece as well as the political and diplomatic piece, and all of those things have to come together,” the paper quoted Mullen as saying. (ANI)
